This TikTok Canva “Hack” Could Get Your Pinterest Account Closed Down: What You Need to Know

If you're like me and enjoy a good scroll on TikTok, you might've stumbled upon a certain Canva hack that claims to make big bucks through Pinterest with little to no effort. It's been gaining traction like wildfire, one video I saw had over 30,000 saves—I was literally stunned!

The Risky TikTok Trend

So, what's the buzz about? People are bulk-creating 100 Canva templates that look eerily similar but feature a slightly different quote on each. Then, they add an affiliate link to each pin, upload them all to Pinterest, and supposedly watch the money roll in. Sounds too good to be true, right? Well, it is.

The Red Flag 🚩

Here's the thing: it's a fast track to getting your Pinterest account closed down.

There's no such thing as quick money wins or hacking the Pinterest algorithm. Pinterest themselves have stated, “Don't try to artificially manipulate Pinterest algorithms or Pinner traffic.”

  • No repetitive affiliate pins: Creating the same pin design over and over and tagging them with affiliate links is a violation of Pinterest's spam policy.

  • Moderate affiliate links: Pinterest is okay with affiliate links, but in moderation. If you do use an affiliate link directly on your pin, make sure you declare it as an #ad and use the Paid Partnership tool to disclose your relationship with the brand.

What Should You Do Instead?

Instead of looking for quick fixes, focus on crafting a well-thought-out Pinterest affiliate strategy: that's going to serve you long-term

  • Add Value: Writing a well-thought-out and helpful blog outlining why you love a product/course/service will go a long way in securing your affiliate income in the future (and then you'll create different pins that link back to this blog).

  • Build Trust: Helpful content like this will build trust with your audience and also Pinterest as you are linking to your claimed and pre-validated website. Pinterest knows it can trust your link!

  • Value Over Volume: Rather than bulk-creating pins, focus on adding value. Quality trumps quantity every time.

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Let's keep Pinterest a space for inspiration, creativity, and genuine engagement. No quick hacks—just authentic, thoughtful content. 🌟
